Wide and clear river Krka, on her way to Adriatic, flows through green fields, penetrates through canyon, passes through big, navigable Prokljan Lake surrounded by vineyards and fishy and touches line of attractive places among which Zaton is one of the calmest and most pleasant for enjoyment and repose from everyday life. That way Zaton became a starting point in observation great number of natural, cultural and social wealth of this region (for example Šibenik cathedral), especially for tourists which come with their own boats and yachts.

By the way, Zaton also takes unique place in cultural and historical heritage of Šibenik-Knin County. As a settlement on this place it was mentioned in 13. century. From the 16. century it’s an independent district. In 16. century Zaton has a church of saint Juraj, parish of saint Juraj, but the protector of Zaton is saint Roko (very known festivity – 16. of August).

New church of St. Roko was built in 1928., but it was finished not earlier then 1995. with organized forces of people of Zaton and priest Ante Ivas, today bishop of Šibenik-Knin County. Till the end of 19. century, in church of Zaton were used Glagolitic letters; the divine service has been served on old Croatian language.

Also, there is a museum in which were exhibited all kinds of archeological inventions from Zaton region and great number of antiquities, which tells about way of living in Zaton through last few centuries.

I have to mention that Zaton as entirety, in spite of his stormy and unpleasant life through history (close and distant), kept his harmony and simplicity and special courtesy and hospitality among people, that in the first place felt tourists (domestic and foreign), excursionists or eventual passers-by.

In Zaton, there are few public services – post-office, health center and fire center. In summer, curiosity of cultural-entertaining subject is enriched by participation of Zaton orchestra, many a-capella and vocal-instrumental performers.
